The music selection is Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, which is also known as Beethoven's Piano Sonata #14, the 1st of 3 movements, which was written in 1801. It was dedicated to Countess Giulietta Guicciardi, with whom he was deeply in love. Its original title was Quasi una Fantasia. In 1832, the poet Ludwig Rellstab compared the music to 'moonlight shining on a lake.' Since then, it became known as the Moonlight Sonata.
